About the unit |
||||
| The 47th Regiment of Foot is one of the very few 18th Century living history groups in the United Kingdom. | ||||
| The society represents a Line Regiment as it would have appeared as part of the Boston garrison in 1775. | ||||
| We portray a centre company of the Regiment as this was the most common red coated unit & the backbone of the British Army. | ||||

Emphasis is placed upon the life & experiences of the rank & file within the army both in times of peace & war. | |||
| The unit currently consists of a Sergeant, Drummer, Corporal, fourteen private soldiers & three women. | ||||
| The uniforms & equipment are painstakingly researched & whenever possible manufactured from authentic patterns & materials. | ||||
| Each member of the unit carries the exact equipment & weaponry that a soldier of the period was issued whether on parade, ceremonial duties or campaign both in summer & winter seasons. | ||||

| The distinctions for rank are demonstrated by the unit with the sergeant being in finer cloth than the privates & carrying his badges of rank - the spontoon & the sash around his waist. | ||||
| The drummer & fifer wear reversed facings as ordered in the Royal Clothing Warrant. | ||||
